Prior to going into private practice, he served at the National University Hospital of Singapore as senior consultant and head of the endocrine surgery division. He completed his MBBS at the University of Leicester (UK) in 1995 and basic surgical training at the National University Hospital and Singapore General Hospital (1996-2006). He was subsequently awarded a scholarship to further his training in general surgery at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Australia. He also completed his subspecialty training in endocrine surgery at the National University of Singapore in 2013.
