Dr. Adrian Ooi Seng Wae graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland where he obtained his medical degree in 1996. He then went on and completed his general surgical training at East Anglia, Cambridgeshire and gained valuable experience by working alongside cardiothoracic and paediatric surgeons at Leeds General Infirmary. He also worked at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge where he further deepened his knowledge in adult cardiac, thoracic, and transplant surgery. Other hospitals in the UK he worked for include St. Bartholomew and The London Chest Hospital and Southampton University Hospital. He is a certified specialist by the General Medical Council in the United Kingdom and Singapore Medical Council. Prior to joining Prince Court Medical Centre in 2016, he served as a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at Singapore’s National University Hospital (2010-2014) and the National Heart Centre (2014-2016). Apart from clinical work, Dr. Ooi is also actively involved in clinical research and teaching fellow doctors. He is the assistant editor of Journal of Visualised Surgery and reviewer for Annals of Thoracic Surgery and European Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He was also the a/programme director for the ACGME-I surgical residency training at the National Healthcare Singapore and board member and VATS instructor for ATEP and the Society of Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery. He was also an examiner and faculty member for advanced nursing certification in Singapore and clinical tutor for undergraduates in two Singapore medical schools. Dr. Ooi’s career highlights include the following: * The first to perform robotic lobectomy for Tan Tock Seng Hospital (2013) * First to perform uniportal VATS lobectomy and thymectomy for Singapore General Hospital (2014) * First surgeon from Singapore/Malaysia to perform live surgery at China’s International Uniportal VATS Symposium in Shenzhen and China’s National VATS Symposium in Beijing (2014) * First non-Korean/Japanese surgeon to be invited to present at the Asian Thoracic Surgical Club in Busan, Korea (2011) * First surgeon from Singapore to be invited as faculty at the European Thoracic Society in Essen, Germany (2010) * Performed the first case of VATS lobectomy and VATS thymectomy for Myanmar (2014)
