One of Prince Court Medical Centre’s medical professionals is Dr. Adrian Ooi Seng Wae, a highly respected cardiothoracic surgeon with over 19 years of experience. He holds an MBBS degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and has years of international experience. Prior to joining Prince Court Medical Centre, he served at Papworth Hospital (Cambridge, UK), London Chest & St. Barts Hospital, and Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore as a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon. He is an expert in a range of cardiothoracic procedures including coronary artery bypass grafting, aortic valve replacement, emergency pulmonary embolectomy, sleeve lobectomy, oesophago-gastrectomy, and oesophageal repair.
Dr. Adrian Ooi Seng Wae graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland where he obtained his medical degree in 1996. He then went on and completed his general surgical training at East Anglia, Cambridgeshire and gained valuable experience by working alongside cardiothoracic and paediatric surgeons at Leeds General Infirmary. He also worked at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge where he further deepened his knowledge in adult cardiac, thoracic, and transplant surgery. Other hospitals in the UK he worked for include St. Bartholomew and The London Chest Hospital and Southampton University Hospital. He is a certified specialist by the General Medical Council in the United Kingdom and Singapore Medical Council. Prior to joining Prince Court Medical Centre in 2016, he served as a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at Singapore’s National University Hospital (2010-2014) and the National Heart Centre (2014-2016). Apart from clinical work, Dr. Ooi is also actively involved in clinical research and teaching fellow doctors. He is the assistant editor of Journal of Visualised Surgery and reviewer for Annals of Thoracic Surgery and European Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He was also the a/programme director for the ACGME-I surgical residency training at the National Healthcare Singapore and board member and VATS instructor for ATEP and the Society of Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery. He was also an examiner and faculty member for advanced nursing certification in Singapore and clinical tutor for undergraduates in two Singapore medical schools.
