Dr. Lam Kai Huat’s practice was established with the goal to provide comprehensive and affordable treatments to various cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Lam Kai Huat, the clinic’s main cardiologist, has over eighteen years of clinical experience specializing in interventional cardiology and pacemaker implantation including ICDs.
He is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians London (MRCP) and a Fellow of the National Heart Association. In addition, he is also a Fellow of the ASEAN College of Cardiology, a Fellow of the Asia Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology, and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Currently, he is on the advisory board of several multinational companies helping them in inventing life-saving medicines.
A well-known and highly respected medical professional in the field of Cardiology, Dr. Lam Kai Huat is actively involved in various research, and conducts numerous clinical trials that are aimed at identifying the best solutions for a wide range of heart problems. He is also often invited to speak at various related seminars not just in Malaysia but also across the Pacific region. A firm believer of holistic healing, he shares his knowledge by writing peer-reviewed journals and by conducting international presentations.
Dr. Lam Kai Huat is also associated with Assunta Hospital located in Selangor, Malaysia offering medical services to both local and international patients.
Angioplasty or Balloon Angioplasty is a common endovascular procedure used to treat a number of hearts conditions particularly atherosclerosis or the build-up of fatty substances in the arteries. The goal is to widen the obstructed or narrowed veins or arteries for improved blood flow to the heart muscle. During the procedure, the surgeon inserts a collapsed balloon catheter in an artery. Using water pressure, the balloon is inflated to open up the blood vessel. To ensure that it remains unclogged, the cardiologist may elect to insert a stent, which is a tiny metal mesh tube designed to provide support to the artery walls. Dr. Lam Kai Huat offers Angioplasty or Balloon Angioplasty to both local and international patients who require high-quality medical procedures without spending a fortune.
ECG / EKG
Electrocardiogram, also called EKG or ECG, is a noninvasive procedure used to monitor the heart and record its electrical activity. Using standard 2D, 3D, and Doppler techniques, this procedure is performed primarily to detect abnormal heart rhythm and to observe the structure and function of the heart without exposing the patient to unnecessary radiation.
During an ECG, the technician attaches the soft electrodes to the legs, chest, and arms. Patients are asked to lie down while the machine, connected to the soft electrodes, monitors the heart’s activity. Patients may be given a stress test as part of the electrocardiogram to monitor the functioning of the heart while standing or while doing other activities such as exercising.
The recorded electrical signal is presented in a vertical dimension and is measured in millivolts. The entire procedure is completely painless and harmless. Electrocardiogram is just one of the procedures offered by Dr. Lam Kai Huat to both domestic and international patients.
A pacemaker is a small device that is used to deliver electrical impulses to the heart to control abnormal rhythms. This device, which is typically a part of a procedure called cardiac resynchronization therapy, is surgically implanted in the body. Pacemaker insertion does not require an open-heart surgery but is performed under local anesthesia. During the procedure, the cardiologist makes a small incision in the upper chest where the leads and the pacemaker are inserted. The leads then go through a function test to ensure that they are working properly before they are connected to the pacemaker. The pacemaker's rate and settings are programmed based on the patient’s specific needs. Dr. Lam Kai Huat specializes in pacemaker insertion including the ICD and offers this procedure to both local and international patients.
