The Centre for Urology and Robotic Surgery is accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI), Urology Society of India, and the Indian Medical Association. It specializes in urology and robotic surgery for the treatment of various medical conditions including bladder tumours, renal and kidney stones, urinary tract infections, male and female incontinence, BPH and other prostate-related problems, and cancer of the testicles, prostate, kidney, and bladder. It also offers advanced diagnostic procedures including flexible cystoscopy and urodynamics study as well as complicated surgical operations including kidney transplantation.
Dr. K. Ramesh graduated from Kilpauk Medical College where he obtained his MS (General Surgery) degree. He completed his national board training in urology at Apollo Hospitals Group in Chennai. He then moved to the United Kingdom where he completed the fellowship awarded by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2000.
From 2002 to 2005, he served at Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore specializing in endoscopic, laparoscopic, and robotic urology. He also worked in New Zealand where he specialized in uro-oncology and incontinence procedures for both men and women. Upon his return to India, he joined Apollo Hospitals Group as a consultant urologist. He became the first in Chennai to place an artificial urinary sphincter in a patient with urinary incontinence.
Dr. Ramesh then completed his robotic surgery training at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in the United States and became a certified robotic surgeon.
Dr. Ramesh Kamalakannan is a highly experienced urologist and certified robotic surgeon. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney stone, prostate-related problems, urinary tract infection, bladder tumour, and cancer of the testicles, prostate, kidney, and bladder, among others. He also performs various diagnostic procedures including flexible cystoscopy and urodynamics study as well as major surgical operations such as kidney transplantation. He has over 15 years of experience and trained in robotic surgery in the United States.
