Basic semen analysis is one of the required tests performed on men who want to sire a child or determine their infertility. It assesses the condition and quality of the semen sample, including the volume and liquefaction time (duration it takes for semen to become liquid), as well as the sperm count, motility, and quality. It’s a very simple process involving the male getting into a private room to obtain seminal fluid that is then placed in a sterile container. No lubricant is used, and the male is advised to abstain from sex 2 to 3 days before the exam.

Blood Test (Hormone AMH)

A woman’s reproductive system involves different kinds of hormones including AMH (Anti-Mullerian Hormone), which is secreted by certain cells present in ovarian follicles (sacs). The presence of such hormone in the blood indicates the capabilities of the ovaries to create the follicles. The more follicles they can produce, the higher the chance of ovarian stimulation in preparation for in vitro fertilization or conception. The test is also helpful in identifying a woman’s ovarian reserve, or the number of good-quality eggs she can produce. The blood test is performed by simply inserting a needle into the vein to collect a sample.

Blood Test (Hormones FSH, LH, Testosterone, Prolactin, Estradiol)

Various glands and organs in the body secrete hormones that have independent roles but are working together harmoniously to ensure that there’s balance. If this balance is disturbed, health issues including infertility in both men and women can occur. Some of the hormones that can have a huge impact on reproduction are luteinizing hormone (LH), testosterone, estradiol, estrogen, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and prolactin. To determine the levels of hormones in the body, a simple blood test is carried out wherein a sterile needle is inserted into the vein. The blood sample is then collected and analyzed. The results are then compared to the acceptable range to know if there’s hormonal imbalance.

Complex Ovulation Induction (Total Care Package using 75ui FSH per Day)

Ovulation induction refers to the process of helping the body release eggs from the follicles to increase the chances of either natural or medically assisted conception. This is performed in conjunction with ovarian stimulation, which involves encouraging the ovaries to produce follicles or sacs that should contain the eggs. The procedure is considered complex if it involves follicle stimulating hormone therapy, which should allow the woman to produce many eggs in a cycle. A transvaginal ultrasound where a probe or transducer with a protective cover is inserted into the vagina is used to determine the progress of follicle production and release of eggs. Once the body starts releasing eggs, the fertility specialist injects HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) or proceeds with insemination.

Egg & Sperm Storing (Freezing)

Sometimes, during the process of in vitro fertilization and other types of assisted reproduction, excess egg and sperm are available. While they can be donated immediately, they may also be stored for later use, future donation, and other medical purposes. Such process is called banking, freezing, or cryopreservation, where egg and sperm are stored in a tank with liquid nitrogen to keep the temperature incredibly low and preserve their natural state as much as possible. When ready for use, they can be thawed.

Egg And Sperm Donation

Sperm and egg donation is a simple process of collecting these cells for future use, medically assisted reproduction, research, or other medical reasons. The procedure of collecting the sample is slightly different between the sexes. In men, sperm is collected through their seminal fluid, which they release during masturbation. No lubricant should be used, and the donor must not engage in any sexual activity for at least two days prior to the donation. For women, injections and medications may be provided before the donation. The development and quantity of eggs are also monitored carefully through a transvaginal ultrasound. Once the eggs are mature, they are retrieved using needle aspiration via the vagina while the donor is asleep.

Embryo Freezing

During a medically assisted reproduction procedure, such as in vitro fertilization, it’s possible to produce multiple embryos. The couple or owner, therefore, has the option to either store or discard them. If they are stored, they undergo embryo freezing to increase their chances of survival for a certain period. The embryos may be thawed once the couple or owner decides to conceive again, donate the embryos, or allow health care facilities to use them for training and research. While not all embryos can thrive during freezing and even thawing, their rate of survival is very high. Using a frozen embryo also doesn’t affect the chances of conception.

The number of sperm cells that can be collected from a semen sample can be a lot. Thus, men are given the option to store them for future use, donate them or use for medical research. This process is known as sperm freezing, sperm cryopreservation, or sperm banking. Depending on several factors such as the quality or condition of the sperm prior to the storage, the cells can be stored for an average of 10 years. Prior to storing them in a tank filled with liquid nitrogen, the semen is first collected through the natural means and the sperm cells are extracted and tested for infectious diseases like hepatitis B or C, as well as HIV.

In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)

IVF or in vitro fertilization is one of the most popular methods of medically assisted conception. It involves obtaining an egg and sperm cells, allowing them to meet and be fertilized in a petri dish until an embryo develops. Once the fertilization has succeeded, the embryo is implanted into the uterus or womb, where it should develop into a fetus that can be carried to full term. Every IVF cycle takes around two weeks. Any remaining embryos, sperm, or egg can also be frozen, which can be useful if the couple or the owners are planning to conceive in the future.

Intra-Uterine Insemination (IUI) with Complex Ovulation Induction
est. $ 570

 Read more...Read less...

Intrauterine insemination or IUI is a fertility treatment involving the insemination (introduction) of a cultured sperm into the upper portion of the womb or uterus, passing through the cervix. By doing this process, the specialist can bypass the mucus found in the cervix area. IUI may be carried out after a complex ovulation induction, wherein the woman is provided with FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) therapy to ovulate, create many follicles with eggs, and ultimately release the egg that will be fertilized by the sperm.

Intra-Uterine Insemination (IUI) with Simple Ovulation Induction
est. $ 279

Some women, such as those suffering from polycystic ovarian syndrome, cannot produce mature follicles, which should allow them to release eggs or menstruate. When this happens, medical intervention may be performed such as ovulation induction, wherein the ovaries are encouraged to produce follicles. It is referred to as simple if medications such as Clomiphene are enough to induce follicle production and the release of the eggs later on. Once the eggs are ready, IUI or intrauterine insemination, which involves putting a sperm into a part of the womb, is carried out.

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
est. $ 237
Contact Clinic
 Read more...Read less...

ICSI or Intracytoplasmic sperm injection is a fertility treatment wherein a specialist chooses the best sperm, which is then injected directly into the egg cell. This is different from the regular fertility process wherein sperm cells are allowed to penetrate the egg cell in a dish. ICSI is usually performed in males who have poor quality sperm cell or when sperm count is very low. This can also be carried out when previous fertilization treatment has failed, or the male has already undergone a vasectomy. Sperm cells may be collected from the testicular tissue, testicles, or epididymis (where sperm cells mature and are kept).

Pelvic Ultrasound
est. $ 21

Pelvic pain and problems for both men and women may be analyzed and treated with the help of ultrasound, which can be transvaginal, transabdominal, or rectal. The procedure involves using a transducer that bounces off ultrasound waves to create images of the internal organs such as the pelvis into the monitor. The transducer or probe may be moved around the abdomen, inserted into the vagina, or placed a few inches inside the rectum. There may be some mild discomfort, but overall, the procedure is safe and quick. It also doesn’t require anaesthesia.

Saline Ultrasound Scan (For Fallopian Tubes)
est. $ 111

Also referred to as hysterosalpingo contrast sonography or HyCoSy, a saline ultrasound scan for the fallopian tubes is a minimally invasive and safe outpatient procedure wherein a transducer or an ultrasound probe is inserted into the vagina after a saline mixture, delivered through a balloon attached to a catheter, is placed. The ultrasound waves should make the fallopian tubes clearer so the doctor can assess if there are any problems with them such as being blocked. The same test can also be used to look into the condition of the endometrium (lining of the uterine wall) or the uterus itself.

Simple Ovulation Induction (Total Care Package using Clomiphene)
est. $ 89
Contact Clinic
 Read more...Read less...

A typical ovulation induction is a simple procedure that involves helping the ovaries produce follicles, which will eventually mature and release eggs that are ready for fertilization, using medications like Clomiphene, which then stimulate the body to produce more FSH (follicle stimulating hormones). In the initial process, a blood test and other exams are conducted to determine hormone levels. Another set of drugs may be given to stimulate the follicles to break and release the eggs. Once the eggs are ready, a shot of hCG is given to prepare the body for either a natural conception or an assisted one such as intrauterine insemination (IUI).

Sperm Antibody Test
est. $ 19
Contact Clinic
 Read more...Read less...

There are many possible reasons for infertility, and although rare, one of these may be the body’s natural response against sperm. This health issue can occur in both men and women. The body produces certain antibodies that consider the sperm cells as a threat and thus eliminate them, preventing them from fertilizing the eggs. To determine whether the man or woman is allergic to sperm, a sperm antibody test is performed, wherein a blood sample is collected from a woman while semen is obtained from men. Men are advised to keep themselves clean prior to the collection and store the sample in a sterile container.

Storing Frozen Sperm
est. $ 149

Men may decide to store their sperm if they wish to donate or keep them while they are undergoing treatment that can make them infertile such as chemotherapy. Sperm may also be collected before a man goes through vasectomy or if it’s for research and medical training. Storing sperm involves placing it in a very cold container with liquid nitrogen, where it can be stored for around 10 years. Before the sperm is kept, however, it should be tested for any disease including sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV, AIDS, or hepatitis B and C. Once ready for use, the sperm undergoes a thawing process.

Also referred to as FET (frozen embryo transfer) cycle, the thawed embryo cycle involves “de-freezing” the embryo before it is implanted into the uterus. During the process, the woman is prepared for conception, which involves taking medications and receiving injections for the next 2 or 3 weeks. If the ultrasound proves that the womb is ready, the embryo, which has been frozen in liquid nitrogen, will then be removed from the storage, thawed, and implanted into the uterus.
