gutCARE is a private group practice in Singapore that focuses solely on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases that affect the gut, liver, pancreas, and bile ducts. These include fatty liver, hepatitis, function gut disorders (such as irritable bowel syndrome), motility disorders, swallowing difficulties, inflammatory bowel disease, and digestive and liver cancer.

gutCARE is staffed by three gastroenterology specialists who subspecialise in key areas including advanced endoscopy, gut motility, functional disorders, and liver and pancreatobiliary disorders. Working together, they provide multidisciplinary care and the best possible treatment outcomes from diagnosis through to treatment.

Dr. Reuben Wong completed his MBBS degree from the National University of Singapore and was accredited as a gastroenterology specialist by the Ministry of Health in 2008. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (United Kingdom) and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS). In 2008, Dr. Wong was awarded the Healthcare Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) scholarship. He went on to complete his subspecialty training in the management of complex functional gastrointestinal disorders and oesophageal motility and anorectal manometry testing at the University of North Carolina’s Centre for Functional Gastrointestinal and Motility Disorders under the mentorship of Professors Douglas Drossman and William Whitehead of the Rome Foundation. Dr. Wong then returned to Singapore and joined the National University Hospital where he led the functional gastroenterology clinic and established the gastroenterology-psychology multi-disciplinary service. He also served as the clinical director of the gastrointestinal motility laboratory. Dr. Wong, who is credited for bringing high resolution monometry to Singapore to enhance the diagnosis and management of oesophageal disorders, is the recipient of numerous local and international awards that recognise his commitment to excellence. These include: * AIA National Achievement Awards for Excellence in Community Service (1993) * Singapore Medical Association and Medical Society Excellence Award (1995) * Young Investigator Award (2nd Prize), 15th Asia Pacific Association for Study of the Liver (2005) * Young Investigator Award, 6th Asia Pacific Digestive Week (2006) * NUH Sunny-Side-Up Award (2007) * Young Investigator’s Award (Gold) in Clinical Research, NHG Annual Scientific Congress (2009) * MOH’s National Healthcare Quality Improvement Merit Award (2012) Dr. Wong has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters on neuro-gastroenterology, [IBS](, and gastrointestinal motility. He also reviews various local and international medical journals and does volunteer work by serving on the committee for the St. Andrew’s Home for the Aged.

Dr. Mark Fernandes is a consultant gastroenterologist specialising in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with liver disorders, including hepatitis B and C, liver cancer, and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. He also has a clinical interest in monitoring the progression of liver diseases using fibroscan. He completed his MBBS at the University of Edinburgh and advanced specialist training in gastroenterology at the National University of Singapore. In 2008, he received a scholarship from Singapore’s Ministry of Health for his advanced fellowship in percutaneous ablative therapies for HCC and liver transplantation at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan and King’s College Hospital in London. Prior to going into private practice, he served at the National University Hospital as a consultant and clinical tutor. He was also part of the hospital's liver transplant programme. Dr. Lee is a member of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom). He is often invited as faculty in local and regional endoscopic workshops and conferences where he lectures on advanced endoscopy, pancreaticobiliary disorders, and digestive cancer.
