A gynecologist is a doctor who specializes in the female reproductive system. A general consultation is necessary for preventive, treatment, and disease management purposes. During the first consultation, the gynecologist reviews your medical records and discusses concerns. A routine gynecological exam is then performed where the doctor checks the outer genitals, cervix, and vaginal walls using a colposcope and speculum. Fluids are swabbed and checked for the presence of microbes. The exam may also include a rectal, uterine, and ovarian exam, as well as pap smear. Depending on the diagnosis, treatment plan may be formulated to address any abnormal condition.

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure wherein the nose is reshaped into an aesthetically enhancing form. There are two techniques of rhinoplasty: the closed and the open technique. If the nose is deficient in height, like in most Asians, an augmentation rhinoplasty is done. This is where an implant is inserted to give height to the dorsum of the nose. Options for implants are either made of silicon or goretex. For some patients who are wary of having a foreign body inserted inside their nose, they have the option of using an autologous implant, such as cartilage from their own ear, nasal septal or ribs.

Thyroid disorders such as goiter, hyperthyroidism, and cancer will normally require the removal of the thyroid gland through a surgical procedure called Thyroidectomy. The type of thyroidectomy required will depend on what parts of the gland need to be surgically removed. A partial thryoidectomy involves the removal of a portion of the gland, while a total thyroidectomy removes the entire gland. Before the procedure, the patient will be placed under general anaesthesia. The surgeon will then make an incision about three to four inches long around the middle of the neck above the thyroid gland. Once the thyroid has been removed, the incision is closed with sutures. Full recovery from the procedure may take up to 4 weeks.

A tonsillectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the two glands at the back of the throat. The procedure is performed when the tonsils become frequently infected or to treat other condition such as difficulty in breathing and frequent snoring. Once the patient has been placed under general anaesthesia, the surgeon will perform tonsillectomy by removing the tonsils using a scalpel or by cauterization, which involves burning the tissue. It will take up to two weeks to recover from the surgery
