Optimax Klang is helmed by Dr. Yen Siew Siang, an eye doctor specialising in cataract and refractive surgeries with over 22 years of experience. She previously served at Hospital Selayang in Kuala Lumpur where she gain a wide exposure and wealth of experience in various subspecialties including glaucoma, vitreoretinal conditions, paediatric ophthalmology, and oculoplasty. In 2006, she became the head of Hospital Ampang’s ophthalmology unit while serving as an ophthalmic surgeon at Hospital Kuala Lumpur at the same time. She then decided to join Optimax Klang as a consultant ophthalmologist.
<p>Dr. Yen Siew Siang’s holds a medical degree and Master of Surgery in Ophthalmology from Universiti Sains Malaysia. She also completed her Masters of Ophthalmology from University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). </p> <p>Prior to going into private practice, Dr. Yen served in various government hospitals in Sabah and Kedah. She spent many years at Hospital Seyang’s ophthalmology department where she gained a wealth of experience and a variety of skills in vitreoretinal conditions, glaucoma, paediatric ophthalmology, and oculoplasty. </p> <p>Before finally joining Optimax Klang as a consultant ophthalmologist, she served as the head of Hospital Ampang’s ophthalmology unit and ophthalmic surgeon at Hospital Kuala Lumpur. </p> <p>At Optimax, Dr. Yen focuses on multiple laser refractive surgery techniques, including the state-of-the-art ReLex SMILE as well as cataract surgeries, implantable collamer lenses, paediatric ophthalmology, and common eye diseases. She is the specialist of choice for many patients not just because of her advanced skills and experience but also because of her warm and caring personality.</p>
<p>Dr. Stephen Chung Soon Hee graduated from India’s University of Mysore with an MBBS degree. Following his graduation, he pursued his Master of Surgery in Ophthalmology at the University Kebangsaan in Malaysia. He then trained extensively with eye surgeons from Optimax UK and Singapore on PRK refractive laser procedures and LASIK, which are some of the procedures that he pioneered in Optimax Malaysia. </p> <p>He is currently actively involved in the development of ReLex Smile in Malaysia, the latest advancement in the field of laser eye surgery. </p> <p>Fully committed to the advancement of laser vision correction procedures, Dr. Stephen shares his knowledge by presenting his studies and papers on various local and international conferences. He also trains fellow surgeons from around the world on laser refractive surgery.</p>
<p>Dr. Ngo Chek Tung graduated from the National University of Singapore with Masters in Ophthalmology in 2008. In 2009, he was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth, London). He then continued his RCOphth certified vitreoretinal surgery training at St. James University Hospital in Leeds, United Kingdom. Since then, he has written numerous books and published articles in peer-reviewed journals. Among his many contributions to the field of ophthalmology is his invention of a suturing method that minimises postoperative discomfort in patients undergoing vitrectomy, which he wrote about and published in Retina Today, a renowned interactive journal in the United States. </p> <p>Specialising in vitreoretinal and cataract surgeries, his services include phacoemulsification, avastin and eylea injection (treatment for age-related macular degeneration), argon laser, optical coherence tomography, vitrectomy, LASIK eye examination, ReLex SMILE, and customised Femto–LASIK.</p>
