Paediatric Cardiology is a specialist clinic located at Mt. Elizabeth Medical Centre offering diagnostic cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures for children with congenital heart defects. The clinic, which is accredited by the Joint Commission International and the International Standards Organisation (ISO), is fully equipped to perform comprehensive health screening, echocardiogram, signal-averaged electrocardiogram, transthoracic echocardiogram, and other diagnostic cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures (such as balloon dilatation of valves).
The clinic is helmed by Dr. Wong Keng Yean, a Senior Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist with more than 26 years of experience. He holds MBBS and MMed degrees, which he obtained in Singapore and is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He completed a two-year training programme at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. He specializes in diagnostic and interventional techniques with the goal to provide the highest standards of cardiac care to children with heart conditions such as atrial septal defect (ASD), congenital heart disease, myocardial injury, hole in the heart, and ventricular septal defect, among others.
Prior to setting up his own clinic, Dr. Wong served as a Cardiologist at Singapore General Hospital and Head of the Cardiology Department at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. He was also an Associate Clinical Professor at the National University Hospital before being promoted to Adjunct Associate Professor in 2013.
<p>Dr. Wong Keng Yean is a senior consultant paediatric cardiologist specialising in diagnostic cardiac catheterisation and interventional cardiology. </p> <p>He completed both his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) and Masters in Paediatrics in Singapore and two-year fellowship at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine of Singapore (FAMS). </p> <p>Prior to the establishment of his private clinic at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, he served at the National Heart Centre and headed KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital’s cardiology department for 15 years. He was also a visiting consultant at Singapore National Heart Centre and KKWCH and Singapore General Hospital’s neonatal department. </p> <p>In 2013, he gave the 8th College of Paediatrics and Child Health Lectureship, which is awarded only to distinguished members of the college in recognition for their work in this field. Dr. Wong has also published several research papers on paediatric cardiology both in local and overseas journals.</p>
