Birth Plan/DeliveryContact Clinic
Central to pregnancy is a birth plan and delivery planning. Pregnant women are now suggested to have a birth plan, which is a document that instructs your medical team about your preferences during active labor and delivery. While labor is usually an uncomplicated and straightforward process, the assistance of experienced medical staff usually makes it easier to manage. Assisted delivery procedures can include induced labor for medical reasons, epidural, episiotomy in the perineum, amniotomy, fetal monitoring, and in some cases, Caesarian delivery. A birth plan will allow you and your health care a systematic approach to D-day. To come up with a birth plan, specialists at Tow Yung Clinic will ask about your preferences for pain management and discuss your expectations while in the delivery room.

Colposcopy is a medical procedure performed to evaluate the health of a woman’s cervix, vagina, and vulva. This test is usually recommended if pap smear results show abnormalities or to investigate unexplained vaginal bleeding or inflammation. In this procedure, the doctor uses a specialized instrument called a colposcope to check for signs of diseases. To perform this procedure, a speculum is inserted into the vagina, through which a colposcope sees images of the cervix through a small screen. Abnormal areas will be identified, and a small sample of tissue may be excised for a biopsy to diagnose women conditions such as genital warts, cervix inflammation, pre-cancerous changes in the tissues of the vagina or cervix, as well as cervical, vaginal, and vulvar cancer.

Gynaecology ConsultationContact Clinic
A general consultation with an obstetrician and gynaecologist is very important for women to maintain optimum health. A gynaecologist specializes in reproductive health while an obstetrician takes care of women during pregnancy and delivery. Your OB-GYNE consultation will cover important health issues including birth control, childbirth, feminine hygiene and menopause. During your consultation, screening for infections, urinary tract problems and conditions such as cancer may also be performed. After asking about your medical history and performing a routine general health check, the specialist may recommend a physical examination of your reproductive organs for abnormalities. A pap smear test is often done during the pelvic exam to check for infection and sexually transmitted diseases.

Couples who have infertility problems typically have to go through a detailed investigation performed by specialists in the field of assisted reproduction. The investigation starts by going through your medical history to include questions related to surgical operations, previous disease or pregnancy, menstrual cycle, frequency of intercourse and family history. A gynecological examination is performed afterwards, and may also be complemented by an ultrasound scan, ovulation detection test and endocrinological investigation on the female. For males, the main test for fertility is a semen analysis. Based on the results of these tests, appropriate treatment methods are recommended.

Women's Health ScreeningContact Clinic
Women have to be proactive about their health, and one of the ways to do this is to have a regular health screening. This includes a series of diagnostic evaluations to check your overall health. The exact recommendation for screening tests would depend on your age, but generally includes blood pressure tests, cholesterol test, pelvic examination, bone mineral density test (to check for osteoporosis), cervical cancer screening test through a pap smear, breast cancer screening through mammography, colorectal cancer screening, diabetes screening and tests for sexually transmitted diseases (HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, to name a few).
