Dr. Chong Kian Tai is a urological surgeon specialising in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and management of basic urology conditions and urologic cancers (prostate, kidney, bladder, testicular, and penile cancers). He performs various urologic surgical procedures using traditional open and advanced keyhole laparoscopic methods. He is trained in endoscopic techniques and in the use of modern Da Vinci robotic surgical operating systems.
He graduated from the National University of Singapore with an MBBS degree in 1995. He then pursued his basic training and obtained his membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCP) of Edinburgh in 2001. In 2002, Dr. Chong was awarded the Urological Oncology Research and A* Star (Singapore) International Fellowships for his urologic-oncologic research on prostate cancer in Seattle, Washington. This was followed by his clinical urologic-oncologic fellowship at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York in 2009.
Dr. Chong is a former adjunct assistant professor at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). He also served as chairman of the Urology Cancer Multidisciplinary Tumour Board, Advanced Care Planning Team, Urology Cancer Support Programme, and TTSH Prostate Cancer Support Group for patients and their family.
