Dr. V. Pathmanathan is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hand and microvascular surgery. He treats arteriovenous malformations (AVM), hand injuries and disorders, and birth defects. He is currently practicing at the ParkCity Medical Centre in Malaysia where he often performs congenital hand surgery, hand and arm reconstructive surgery, reconstructive microsurgery, and hand trauma and peripheral nerve microsurgery.
He has more than 30 years of practice experience and is the recipient of the Guinness Effort Award for performing the world’s first arm transplant.
He completed his MBBS at the University of Malaya in 1978. He then pursued his fellowships in hand surgery in Tokyo, Japan (1984) and at the University of Louisville, Kentucky (1987) as well as his fellowship in congenital hand surgery in Hamburg, Germany (1988).
Dr. Pathmanathan is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (1983) and member of the Malaysian Society of Surgery for the Hand and International Federation of the Societies of Surgery of the Hand.
