Dr. Adrian Ooi Seng Wae is a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at Serdang Hospital and Prince Court Medical Centre in Malaysia. He has special interests in minimally invasive, uniport, and robotic surgery. He is a registered cardiothoracic surgery specialist in Malaysia, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.
He completed his Doctor of Medicine (MD) at the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland in 1996. He obtained his membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS) in 2001 and certificate of complete training (CCT-UK) in cardiothoracic surgery in 2008.
He is the former president of Singapore Thoracic Society. He is also a former consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at the National Heart Centre Singapore and Tan Tock Seng Hospital and visiting consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (Singapore). He is the first surgeon to perform uniport VATS single keyhole surgery in Malaysia, Myanmar, and Singapore (2013-2016), minimally invasive coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) in Singapore (2013), and robotic lung surgery in Singapore (2013).
He has presented his work in Europe, Japan, China, Mongolia, Korea, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, and Myanmar. He is often invited to speak at local and international medical conferences and has performed live surgeries in many countries. He is also an editorial board member and reviewer for seven international cardiothoracic surgery journals.
