Dr. Anwar Samhari Mat Arshad completed his MBBS degree from the University of Malaya in 1994. After becoming a member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 1999, he pursued his two-year specialist training in rheumatology and internal medicine at the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom. He was then accepted as a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology (FACR, 2004), Interventional Pain Physicians (2009) by World Institute of Pain, American College of Physicians (FACP, 2008), and Royal Colleges of Physicians of Ireland (2009) and London (2010).

Chosen as the only consultant rheumatologist from Malaysia by the American College of Rheumatology to participate in the People to People Ambassador Programs headed by Dr. Joan Bathon, the director of John Hopkins Arthritis Centre (2007)
Appointed as a Delphi panel member for the ICF Research Branch by the Institute of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, Germany (2006)
Recipient of the prestigious Myre Sim grant by the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (2006) and European League for Rheumatology (EULAR) bursary
Throughout his medical career, Dr. Anwar attended and participated in numerous national and international training, seminars, and conferences as an invited speaker, trainer, co-organiser, and a member of expert panels. He has also published in numerous peer-reviewed journals focusing on general internal medicine, rheumatic disease and management, primary care and clinical therapeutics, immunology, and musculoskeletal medicine.
Dr. Anwar is an appointed medical case and patent reviewer as well as a peer reviewer for various journals, including the Journal of Rheumatology, Singapore Medical Journal, and Journal of Clinical Rheumatology.
