Dr. Chua Soo Yong is a fellowship-trained consultant orthopaedic and spine surgeon. He is currently practicing at Atlas Spine and Orthopaedic Surgery Centre located at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre. He is trained in all aspects of spinal surgery using both traditional and minimally invasive techniques. He routinely performs complex spinal surgery, disc replacement surgery, instrumental fusion, and decompression.
He graduated from the National University of Singapore where he completed his MBBS (2001) and Master of Medicine in Orthopaedic Surgery (2005). He was then awarded the Ministry of Health’s Health Manpower Development (HDMP) scholarship to pursue his advanced training in spine surgery at The Krembil Neuroscience Centre, University of Toronto, Canada. He was also awarded the prestigious Depuy-Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association Spine Travelling Fellowship in 2010.
Prior to going into private practice, he served at Changi General Hospital as deputy chief of spine service.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Orthopaedics) and Academy of Medicine of Singapore (FAMS). He is a member of the Singapore Medical Association, Singapore Orthopaedic Association, North American Spine Society (NASS), and Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association (General Orthopaedics and Spine).
