Dr. John Bosco Lee completed both his MBBS and Masters in Psychiatry from the National University of Singapore. In 2012, he also completed his Masters in Clinical Forensic Psychiatry from King’s College London where he won the Barry Prize. He also pursued his specialist training in clinical hypnosis from the London College of Clinical Hypnosis. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore, an Associate of King's College, and a member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis.
Prior to going into private practice, Dr. John worked in the civil service for 20 years. Specialising in forensic psychiatry, he worked for about 10 years in forensic related postings at different institutions including the Institute of Mental Health, Changi Prison Complex, and Singapore Armed Forces. He also headed a government agency’s psychiatric outpatient and inpatient service before he established The Adelphi Psych Medicine Clinic. His goal is to provide the highest standard of care for various types of people, including students and professionals, who suffer from mental health issues that affect their professional and personal life.
Dr. John’s advocacy is to help offenders with mental disorders in the legal system. He advocates for their rights to be accurately assessed before sentencing so they can be provided with appropriate treatment. His goal is to help these people also receive rehabilitation so they can be prepared for their eventual recovery and re-integration into society.
Adelphi Psych Medicine Clinic was founded in August 2015 at The Adelphi, a lifestyle mall that is in close proximity to the City Hall MRT. It offers art therapy, clinical hypnosis, cognitive behavioural therapy, eye movement desentisation reprocessing (EMDR), and grief therapy, among others. Its goal is to improve the mental well-being of patients suffering from various conditions such as work or school-related stress, anxiety, insomnia, depression, mood and addiction disorders, and phobia. It also offers psychotherapy and medico-legal related issues such as mental capacity affecting legal competency. Adelphi Psych Medicine Clinic features a comfortable environment where patients can feel cared for throughout their journey. Its team is composed of a highly experienced psychiatrist, psychologists, and therapists who are deeply passionate about helping patients achieve optimum mental health. Prior to going into private practice, the clinic’s team held clinical leadership positions in the civil service and restructured hospitals. They were also trained at various institutions both in Singapore and abroad including the National University of Singapore, Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College London, University of Queensland, and Edith Cowan University.
