Dr. Lim Kay Kiat is an orthopaedic surgeon currently in private practice at Synergy Orthopaedic Group at Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre. He provides specialist orthopaedic care with a special focus on foot and ankle surgery. He is the former director of Changi General Hospital’s foot and ankle service and was a consultant to the hospital’s orthopaedic surgery department.
Dr. Lim graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1996 with an MBBS degree. He then went on and pursued his postgraduate training in surgery and subsequently obtained his membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS) and Masters of Medicine in Orthopaedic Surgery (NUS). He was subsequently conferred Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS) in 2006 and awarded the SingHealth Talent Development Fund. His scholarship allowed him to complete his foot and ankle clinical fellowship programme at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada.
While at Changi General Hospital, Dr. Lim played a key role in pioneering the use of maggot debridement therapy in treating patients suffering from diabetic foot ulcers.
Dr. Lim’s research interests lie in foot and ankle disorders and gait. He has been involved in numerous multi-centre medical trials and many of his works have been published in peer-reviewed local and international scientific journals. Aside from his clinical practice, he also serves as a clinical tutor at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and clinical faculty for the SingHealth Orthopaedic Residency Programme.
