Dr. Muruga Kumar Rajoo is a neurosurgeon at Subang Jaya Medical Centre in Malaysia.
He graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 1988 with his medical degree. He then pursued his postgraduate surgical fellowship training from the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Glasgow and Edinburgh in 1993. He also completed his subspecialty training at General Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Atkinson Morley Hospital (London), and Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre (United Kingdom).
In 1997, he joined the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London as a vascular research fellow. Upon his return to Malaysia, he joined Kuala Lumpur General Hospital as a consultant neurosurgeon and played a crucial role in the setting up of the hospital’s first radiosurgery facility.
Dr. Muruga often uses microsurgical techniques, neurophysiological monitoring, and intraoperative ultrasound imaging in spinal surgery.
He is a member of the Malaysian Academy of Medicine, Neuroscience Society of Malaysia, Asian Congress of Neurosurgeons, and the Malaysian Medical Association. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Glasgow.
