Dr. Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree in 1994. Her post-graduate qualifications include a Master of Medicine (Pediatrics) in Singapore, a membership of Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health in Edinburgh, and a diploma in dermatology (Family Practice) from the National University of Singapore.
Dr. Tan is trained in paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition. She received her subspecialty training at King’s College Hospital in London. Common conditions managed by and procedures performed by Dr. Tan include:

- Liver disorders
- Ambulatory 24-hour gastric pH monitoring.
SBCC Baby and Child Clinic was established in 1980 and is directly affiliated with Healthway Medical Group.
