Dr. Samsudin Bin Osman Cassim graduated from the National University of Malaysia where he obtained his Bachelor in Medical Sciences (1989), Doctor of Medicine (1992), and Masters in Surgery in Orthopaedics (2000). He has over 15 years of experience and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of orthopaedic and sports injuries and in performing minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery and shockwave therapy.
Prior to setting up his own clinic at Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur, he held the following positions:
- Lecturer & Head of Sports Injury Unit, Department of Orthopaedics, National University Hospital, Malaysia (2000-2008)
- Trainee Lecturer, Registrar, and Medical Officer, National University Hospital, Malaysia (1996-2000)
- Medical Officer, Hand & Microsurgery, General Hospital, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (1994-1996)
Considered an authority in his field, he has written and published a number of papers on international journal including the Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery (Hong Kong), Journal Bone and Joint Surgery (British Volume), and Medical Journal of Malaysia. In addition, he is often asked to conduct presentations at both national and international conferences.
Currently, he is investigating new techniques using bioengineered articular cartilage for the treatment of articular cartilage injury and assessing the analgesic efficacy and safety of valdecoxib compared to diclofenac sodium in patients undergoing knee arthroscopy procedure for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.
