Dr. Gan Eng Cern is a fellowship-trained consultant ENT surgeon with subspecialty interest in rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery. He offers comprehensive services for the diagnosis and treatment of all known ear, nose, and throat problems, including snoring and sleep apnoea, salivary glands disorders, thyroid lumps, dizziness, vertigo, and head and neck lumps.
Prior to going into private practice in 2010, he served as chief rhinologist at Changi General Hospital as well as senior clinical lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore.
Dr. Gan completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales (Australia) and specialty training in otorhinolaryngology – head and neck surgery in Singapore. He was then awarded a scholarship by Singapore’s Ministry of Health for his subspecialty training at St. Paul’s Sinus Centre at the University of British Columbia in Canada.
Dr. Gan is an avid researcher. In 2014, he won the prestigious 19th Yahya Cohen Memorial Lectureship Award for his research on patient positioning during sinus surgery to minimise bleeding and improve surgical safety. The award was given by the College of Surgeons, Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
He is also a reviewer for the Singapore Medical Journal, the Laryngoscope, and the International Forum of Allergy and Rhinology (IFAR), which is the official journal of the American Rhinologic Society and the American Academy of Otolaryngologic Allergy. He is often invited to speak and teach at local and international sinus surgery courses.
