Dr. Hendrick Chia Miah Yang is a consultant cardiologist at Sunway Medical Centre. He is the former president of the National Heart Association of Malaysia (2006-2008).
His services include cardiac catheterisation, percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, renal angioplasty/stenting, pacemaker transplantation, electrophysiology studies, echocardiography, and trans-oesophageal echocardiography.
He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at King’s College London, training in internal medicine at Princess Royal University and Farnborough Hospitals, and training in cardiology at Guy’s Hospital in the United Kingdom.
He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI) and Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and the ASEAN Federation of Cardiology (FAsCC).
He has presented his work at the European Atherosclerosis Society (Italy), American College of Cardiology (1997), and XIII World Congress of Cardiology’s scientific meetings, among others. He has also published papers in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, International Journal of Cardiology, and Journal of Paediatrics, Obstetrics, and Gynaecology.
Dr. Chia is the former head of Universiti Putra Malaysia’s department of medicine. He has also served at Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and was involved in the setting up of the hospital’s cardiology unit and interventional services.
