Dr. Kan Yuk Man is a senior consultant general surgeon with over 20 years of practice experience. His areas of expertise lie in the diagnosis and treatment of oesophageal, gastric, colorectal, pancreatic, and liver cancer as well as haemorrhoids, gallstones, hernia, and appendicitis. His services include early screening with endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy), minimally invasive surgery, and laparoscopic hernia repair and bariatric surgery.
He completed his basic medical degree at Manchester Medical School in 1993 and his medical and surgical training at Addenbrookes University Hospital, Cambridge, United Kingdom. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS) in 1998.
Following his training, he devoted part of his career at international renowned units to further hone his surgical skills with a special focus on minimally invasive surgery. These fellowships include:
- Fellowship in thoracoscopic oesophagectomies and bariatric surgery, Princess Alexandra Hospital (Brisbane, Australia)
- Augis Travelling Fellowship, the National Cancer Centre and The Cancer Institute (Tokyo, Japan)
- Oesophagogastric clinical fellowship, Prince of Wales Chinese University Hospital (Hong Kong)
Dr. Kan is often invited to train and present at regional and international medical conferences, including the USA, UK, France, India, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
Prior to joining One Surgical Clinic & Surgery at Parkway East Medical Centre, he served at Alexandra Hospital as clinical lead in upper GI surgery as well as visiting consultant to the National University Hospital. He also served at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital where he played a major role in the establishment of the hospital’s major operating theatre and endoscopy complex. He also led the hospital’s trauma and bariatric surgical services.
