Dr. Paul Lim Vey Hong is a consultant ear, nose, throat (ENT) and head and neck surgeon at Sunway Medical Centre and Tung Shin Hospital in Malaysia. He has special interests in head and neck cancers, snoring, and obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). He performs routine and complicated ENT surgical procedures, including mastoidectomy, functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), balloon sinuplasty, parotidectomy, maxillectomy, resection of tongue and oropharyngeal cancers, laryngectomy, and craniofacial resection.
He obtained his medical degree from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom in 1990. He completed his internship and ENT training at various UK hospitals, including Leicester General Hospital and Leicester Royal Infirmary. He was subsequently conferred Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Glasgow, England, and Edinburgh (FRCS).
He returned to Malaysia in 1997 to join University Hospital Kuala Lumpur for his subspecialty training in head and neck surgery. He worked closely with a team of oncologists and oral, plastic, and orthopaedic surgeons involved in the treatment of head and neck cancers.
Dr. Lim has published in many peer-reviewed medical journals, including the Journal of Pathology, Journal of Human Genetics, and Journal of Clinical Virology. Since 2001, he has been collaborating with researchers from the Cancer Research Initiative Foundation for his research on genetics and molecular pathogenesis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The study aims to improve detection and treatment outcomes of cancer in the future.
