Dr. Ronald Arun Das is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon who has more than 10 years of clinical and surgical experience and special interests in diabetic eye care, ocular trauma and reconstruction, and age-related macular degeneration.
His services include astigmatic keratotomy, cataract surgery, conjunctival biopsy, conjunctiva transplantation, intraocular lens implantation, lens extraction, macular hole repair, optical coherence tomography, panretinal photocoagulation, pterygium excision, retinal detachment repair, tonometry, and vitrectomy.
He graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) with his Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 1996. Following the completion of his training in general surgery at Ipoh General Hospital and Hospital Mentakab, Dr. Ronald pursued UKM’s ophthalmology postgraduate programme and completed his three-year comprehensive vitreo-retinal fellowship and one-year surgical fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital in the United Kingdom.
Prior to going into private practice, Dr. Ronald served at Hospital Selayang as head of retinal surgery and lead trainer for the VR fellowship programme. He was also actively involved in the Master of Ophthalmology training programme.
Dr. Ronald is a member of the Malaysian Society of Ophthalmology, American Academy of Ophthalmologists, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia, and Malaysian Medical Association. He has published in a number of medical journals and presented at various medical conferences and meetings.
