Dr. Sivathasan Cumaraswamy is a consultant cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon at the Heart, Lung, & Vascular Centre, Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre Singapore. He is also the director of the National Heart Centre’s mechanical heart devices and heart/lung transplantation programmes as well as the president of the International Society for Mechanical Cardiac Support.
He holds an MBBS degree and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (England and Edinburgh) (FRCS) and Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS).
Dr. Cumaraswamy is a member of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplant and International Society for Rotary Blood Pumps. He is also a member of the board of directors of Singapore Heart Foundation and an executive member of the chapter of cardiothoracic surgeons, Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
For his contributions to the field of cardiothoracic surgery, he was given the following awards:
