Dr. Zaliha Binti is a consultant rehabilitation medicine specialist at Sunway Medical Centre in Malaysia. She has more than 30 years of practice experience. She is currently specialising in the management of patients with pre-existing and impending disabilities as well as complications arising out of certain illnesses, birth, and trauma. She has worked with children with cerebral palsy, birth defects, and genetic abnormalities. She has also managed patients with traumatic spinal cord injury, idiopathic scoliosis, and peripheral joint paints.
She completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Malaya and obtained her Diploma in Medical Rehabilitation from the Royal College of Physicians in London. She then went to Australia for her fellowship in rehabilitation medicine (2000) and Graduate Certificate in Medical Acupuncture (2002). She was conferred Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Glasgow (FRCP) in 2006 and Fellow of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (FAMM) in 2014.
She is a former visiting clinical consultant at the University of Malaya Medical Centre’s rehabilitation medicine department. She also served at the University of Malaya, where she pioneered the rehabilitation medicine and sports medicine post-graduate residency programmes.
